Network, Network, Network!
Many technical communicators work independently of their peers. It is a great
experience to be in the same room as a large group of your own ilk. People who
share the same problems and have similar experiences, and people who you can
both empathise and celebrate with! Networking has always been
a priority at AODC, and this year, there was opportunities galore!
Swinburne University Welcome Reception
Wednesday 14th May, 4.45pm - 5.45pm
Drinks and canapés after the first day was
an ideal
way to meet colleagues and relax after a hard day of thought provoking
sessions. The Welcome Reception was free for all AODC delegates, speakers and
exhibitors. We thank Swinburne University for their support. |

Lunch Breaks
All lunches were included in the cost of the registration fee. They were
served buffet style, and offered something to suit everyone. It was great to be
able to eat outside on the terrace in the beautiful Queensland sunshine. |
Trade Exhibition
Thursday 15th May, 8.30am - 5pm
We had Author-it Software displaying their products and services at the Exhibition.
This was a great opportunity to meet the Matt and Richard, see the software in
action on the big plasma screen and ask them questions. It was also a great opportunity to collect
a chocolate fish!

Trivia Night
Thursday 15th May, 8.00pm - 10.00pm
"Uncle" Dave's Trivia Night has become a legendary event at AODC.
In 2008 this was a very enjoyable night indeed. This year's winners
(Penny and the Jets) are pictured at left with "Uncle" Dave himself. They
are proudly displaying their prizes; Gold Coast caps, CSOFT book marks and
the perpetual Shoe Shiner trophy. The venue was the Gold Coast Commerce
Club. There was no cost to
attend, and the meals and drinks at the club were excellent value. |
